What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
One of my favourite personal touches I've seen at a wedding is when couples incorporate a handfasting ceremony.
It’s such a beautiful, symbolic gesture where the couple's hands are tied together, symbolising their union. It’s a deeply personal and meaningful moment that often reflects the couple’s heritage or spiritual beliefs.
I love how it brings a unique and intimate element to the ceremony, and the guests always seem to be so moved by it. It's these special moments that really make a wedding stand out and feel truly unique.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
When I first meet with a couple, I like to really get to know them, either through an in-person meeting or a virtual chat. This is where we talk about their vision for the day, what’s important to them, and any personal touches they want to include. It’s all about creating a ceremony that feels truly theirs.
After that, I get to work on crafting the ceremony, keeping it personal and meaningful. I often suggest readings, vows, and rituals that might fit, but I always make sure it reflects the couple’s personality and values. We go over everything together, and I encourage them to ask questions or make adjustments if anything doesn’t feel quite right.
As the wedding day approaches, we touch base again to make sure everything is in place, from the order of events to any last-minute changes. On the day, I arrive early to ensure everything’s set up, and I’m there to keep things running smoothly, offering support and reassurance whenever it’s needed.
Throughout the process, I aim to make it as stress-free as possible, so the couple can just enjoy the journey. It’s about making their day unforgettable, but also ensuring they feel comfortable and confident with everything.
How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?
I make sure a wedding day runs as smoothly as possible by being well-prepared and organised. Right from the start, I work closely with the couple to iron out every detail well in advance. This includes creating a timeline for the day, ensuring everyone knows their roles, and addressing any concerns they might have. I’m always available for a chat if they need reassurance or have last-minute questions.
On the day itself, I arrive early to check everything is set up and ready to go, so there’s no rushing or uncertainty. I stay flexible, knowing that things may change, and I’m always ready to step in and handle any surprises. I make sure the couple feels relaxed, keeping them informed but not overwhelmed, and managing everything behind the scenes so they can focus on enjoying their special day.
Most importantly, I maintain a calm and positive attitude, which helps set the tone for everyone else. My aim is for the couple to feel as though they can truly enjoy the day without having to worry about any of the details.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is being able to play a part in such an important and personal moment in a couple’s life. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see their vision come to life, knowing that I’ve helped create a ceremony that reflects who they are as individuals and as a couple. The emotional moments, the joy, the smiles – it’s all so rewarding.
I also enjoy the variety of every wedding. No two ceremonies are the same, and it’s exciting to craft something unique for each couple. The trust they place in me to guide them through the process is something I never take for granted, and being able to help ease any stress or worry they might have is something I truly appreciate. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of knowing I’ve contributed to making their big day unforgettable.
What is your favourite moment at a wedding?
My favourite moment at a wedding has to be when the couple first sees each other as they walk down the aisle. There’s just something truly magical about that instant – the emotions, the excitement, the love. It's always so special to see how the couple reacts, and it really sets the tone for the rest of the day. Whether it's a few tears, a smile, or a laugh, that moment is so personal and meaningful. It's a reminder of why I do what I do – to create those unforgettable, heartfelt moments.
