Steve Morris Celebrant Full Description
It’s your special day - so you deserve the best - exactly what you want. That’s my job, and I love it! I offer modern, inspired celebrancy services, and because I’m an independent celebrant, I’m able to do that in any setting, at any time, and in any way that suits you. My speciality is “themed and costumed” celebrations based on your favourite film, tv, historical or fantasy characters (for example), and I think I’m unique. I offer bespoke scripts and deliver them in appropriate style, though if your taste is more conventional I’m perfectly happy to accommodate that too. Atheist, agnostic and Pagan ceremonies also a speciality. All my work is guaranteed and I hold professional and public liability insurance. I’m personally committed to supporting diversity. I’ve delivered many LGBTQ+ and polyamourous ceremonies, for example. Love is love! Get in touch - where will our imaginations take us?

Personal Message from the Manager

Name of Wedding Contact: Steve
Hi! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, renewal or celebration. I’m here to make sure your ceremony is as special as possible. Nothing is too much trouble, and I get to know you before I put one word on paper to make sure that your day is as “you” as can be. I only ever take one booking a day so you can be sure of my complete attention, and I always remember who the most important people are in the room (that’s you!). Get in touch - see where our imaginations take you. Steve

FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

They’re all memorable, but if I had to choose one it would be my first as a professional celebrant. Ruithin Castle in Wales; full-on fantasy theme. The bride arrived in her wedding dress on a huge black horse. All of the groomsmen wore swords and formed a sword-arch for the couple to enter and leave the space. Everyone was dressed up in historical costumes, including me! We started the ceremony at dusk by ringing a hammer on an anvil to set up the space and ended with cakes and mead served to the guests by the bride and groom. Truly magical.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Innovative, unflappable, creative, magical, powerful

What about your business are you most proud of?

I go the extra mile for my clients, but I try and keep the costs down to a manageable level. Everything is unique to each client - it’s all about delivering for them - I never forget it’s their special day and I’m a facilitator not the focus. If my clients can tell me afterwards “that was what we dreamed of”, then I’m happy. It’s the reviews, the comments, the feedback.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Be strong. If you want something, ask for it. If you don’t want something, don’t think you have to have it!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

There’s no such thing as a typical process. Each client is different. Some know what they want and are very forthcoming about it. Others want their celebrant to direct the process. With every client it’s about spending enough time with them, either virtually or face-to-face to really understand their desires. It’s my job to make sure the dreams happen. Once I’ve got to know you, I’ll produce a draft script. Often this needs no editing, but if it does, no problem! I once did a funeral where the family were very involved, and different family members wanted changes right up to the day of the ceremony. Most weddings are controlled by the bride and groom, but it can be important to involve other people (especially parents and children) with a role to play, and even their pets! I do prefer a rehearsal once the script is agreed. It can be very important to work out where to stand and how the space is used, particularly if the event is being filmed.

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

Most weddings are not stress-free! All you can do is minimise any potential problems. Planning is key, as is having at least three different copies of the script, spares for almost everything and a really good map.

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

When you present your couple at the end of the ceremony. They kiss. The crowd goes wild. Magic.
