The Wedding Venue of our Dreams!
From the minute we saw Hargate Hall we knew we had found the perfect place for our wedding. What we especially loved was the freedom given by this venue to make our wedding exactly how we wanted, no forced suppliers, caterers, bar, etc. We had the full venue for the entire weekend with around 40 guests staying with us (More can fit in the "mezzanines" which are like little loft spaces in the bedrooms). We think it was really special to have this time to spend wit

Perfect for our Wedding
Anthony and Julie have been amazing for us, their brilliant venue suited us down to the ground. We knew it was the perfect place as soon as we saw it on an open day - we held out through lockdowns to make sure we could still go there. Anthony had been guiding us through the process of rebooking and helping us with advice along the way versus lockdown and covid19 restrictions and made us feel so much better every time we phoned up. We hired the whole venue and marquee for our DIY wedding over a weekend, hosting our guests in each apartment, all apartments are different size each with it's charm. The main hall was the hub where we had our wedding ceremony and live music. The thing that attracted us has been that Hargate Hall is family run and super accommodating. Each time we'd phoned to ask if that or this is OK Anthony's been up for it! They have decoration and the all important Bar services to offer too, the Horsebox Cocktail Bar is run by Anthony's son, one of his daughters was helping out with our caterers in the marquee We recommend Hargate Hall for certain. Lots of our guests have been blown away saying how unique it was (as well as the best wedding they've been to.. :s). The opportunity for our guests to make themselves comfy in apartments, go for walks, drop in and out of whats going on at the celebrations is great. We certainly we're glad we managed to enjoy a longer wedding celebration Friday night till Monday morning otherwise it would have gone in a flash!! Go and visit Hargate Hall, have a chat to Anthony and see for yourself We want to do it all again... thankyouthankyouthankyou to the Knox Family for having us at your fantastic venue, we wish you all the best for the future

perfect for private bespoke celebrations
Been fortunate to have worked at Hargate for the last few years. The venue isn't just perfect for private bespoke celebrations but the help and flexibility and friendliness of the staff always strikes me. Always a joy to visit! By Request Caterers

amazing weekend
We hired the entire Hall for a wedding weekend with 70 of our friends & family and we had an absolutely amazing weekend. We could all come together in the Hall or the grounds but people also had their own space in the apartments. Absolutely perfect.

Great venue for a getaway or a wedding / event
Great place to have a wedding or stay in just as a break. Wedding-wise was perfect. I suggest rather than me rambling on for ages about my wedding that if you're considering this as a venue you join the hargate wedding group on Facebook. Needless to say I rate the place hugely and made my day perfect. Having booked the whole place out I can review it as a whole... So - let me just review the place from a prospective guest point of view: Nice, VERY clean self catering apartments. Different sizes depending on your needs. They have used the space cleverly to maximise the beds available putting in mezzanines. This was great for us but wouldn't suit everyone - you have to go up a ladder and crawl into bed if you're on a mezzanine - don't get me wrong they're comfy but wouldn't suit someone who was old or not able to shimmy up and down a ladder to go for a widdle in the night They are often in - but overhanging the main bedroom - so 4 good mates could happily share - a couple and 2 singles for e.g. Might find it more awkward Well stocked kitchen with everything you need. It is a full self catering offering so you need to bring everything from loo roll to towels but the apartments are generally quite big - certainly compared to a hotel. Lovely grounds and surrounding area to explore. There is a marquee for hire for events which is a very high standard Definitely recommend for a get away Tonnes of parking no problem and very friendly, helpful owners who are around if you need but otherwise leave you alone to do your own thing Have put some pics I think show the place sorry if they're a bit weddinggy!

Beautiiful venue for DIY wedding or independent travelers
Hargate Hall is just the kind of place I love to stay. I was there this past weekend for a wedding, where the couple had bought out the entire place for their event. This allowed them to throw a heck of a party that reflected their unique style and budget. It is in the middle of Derbyshire and the surrounding countryside is gorgeous for walks and touring. I wasn't there long enough to explore the region, but even so I was able to get a good overall feel for it. We had a full house and the accommodation wasn't exactly private. I was in a room where I ended up choosing to sleep on a sofa instead of in the loft above the bedroom above the couple I just met which was fine for my purposes, but depending on your circumstances is something to be aware of - be sure to go on a thorough tour of the rooms before deciding if it will meet your needs if planning a similar event. As far as non-wedding weekend, I'd say the smaller rooms (I was in Haddon) would be fine self catering options for a couple with one or two small children. While far from a luxury accommodation, this would be an authentic and interesting place to stay for independent and budget mindful travelers and those who understand that it's an old estate with "character", not a pristine and updated manse. Everything was very clean though! I spoke briefly with the owner and said in order to keep Hargate Hall operating, they were now offering midweek weddings at a lower price. Would be a great option for those who would consider getting married during the week! I would definitely stay again - it is the kind of place my husband I would love to stay when visiting the region.

My son and daughter - in- law hired the whole venue for their wedding over bank holiday weekend. The accommodation was excellent, and the shared areas of this unique country Manor House were ideal for a large celebration

Amazing wedding venue
We hosted our wedding at gorgeous Hargate Hall. It has a beautiful hall, courtyard, lawn and marquee all close together. The self-catering appartments are nicely decorated and have all the essentials. It's in a stunning location just 5 miles from Buxton train station. The local villages are very pretty and the pubs are excellent. The venue owners are very happy to help with any advice and queries. It's also a very reasonable price especially as they do not charge corkage, so you can bring as much wine and stock the bar as you wish! I'm recommending it to everyone.

perfect wedding venue
Just returned home having hosted our daughter's wedding reception at hargate hall. The place is a credit to Anthony and his family. Beautiful location, grounds, marquee, rooms and public areas. We had just over a hundred guests and the place was perfect (even though the weather was very wet). Everyone left feeling they'd had an extra special experience. We had also booked Dan Reynard for evening music and he was exceptional. Highly recommended.

THE perfect wedding venue
We recently had our wedding at Hargate Hall and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. Having the venue exclusively for us and our guests for 3 days made our wedding experience extra special. Our guests we absolutely blown away by the venue and said it really was something special, with many people saying it was the best venue they had ever been to. The owners are so helpful and accommodating, giving you free reign to design your wedding in any way you want to suit you. All rooms have excellent facilities with communal lounge and kitchen areas and lovely bedrooms and the cleanliness is excellent. Hargate Hall is a must book wedding venue for an extra special wedding!
