Description

We don't believe in packages but in tailoring your weekend to what you'd like as a couple. We have done tiny weddings with 10/12 people and larger ones of 120. We haven't had an elopement wedding yet and looking forward to our first one. Our gardens are lovely and provide a beautiful, rustic back drop to your day. We can make our spaces more or less formal according to what you'd like. Maybe a rustic evening BBQ the night before, a formal chef made meal the day of the wedding and a catch up brunch the day after. Obviously couples want to spend as much time outside as they can during their day however we know inside space is very important too. We have our Bothy which sits 32 to eat, its a glass covered area with the Victorian walled garden wall as its feature wall so you feel like you are in the garden. It has a kitchen attached. We then have a grey stretch tent that has flooring, a dance floor and can be used as a 'roof' or have its side down or be somewhere in between. It can also be made smaller for that festival feel. We have lots of gazebos that can be used as bars, or to put seating under or to be used as a corridor between the tent and the Bothy should it rain. People have themed their weddings in many different ways form 20's glamour to Festival to picnics to rustic wedding wrapped up in a week of holiday for extended family and friends. We work by inviting you to tell us what you'd like, helping you to form ideas and arrive at your perfect weekend. We can do flowers on site, breakfast, sharing platters and arrange taxis etc. On the day we are on hand to make sure everything goes perfectly. You can do as little or as much as you like of the preparation, its your weekend and we'll adapt to suit you.

Personal Message from the Manager

Name of Wedding Contact: Tara Macdonald
Hello and many congratulations! Please do get in touch if you think Madeira could be the venue for you. I always find it best to chat through your thoughts and ideas, and to meet you and get to know you if possible. And you me too of course. Then you can make you minds up with confidence. I love Madeira, I fell in love with it the moment I first came up the long drive. It was so calm, so serene. I always wanted to hold weddings here and for the past few years that has become reality.

Describe the best wedding that happened at Madeira in Fife?

Thats difficult to say but I'm going to cheat and give you two! We held a Festival Wedding for 120 from all over the UK, many were in the drinks and creative business. We had a cocktail bar, real ale bar, wine bar and street food. everyone had such a good time. Rachel and Liam got married on Friday in the Garden, had nibbles and fizz before going off site for a party in the nearby distillery/bar/venue. They then had their big celebration on Saturday before wild swimming and brunch on Sunday. Such fun and great music. By contrast we had Neil and Simons intimate wedding, just 12 people at the ceremony. They were married in the garden, had a chef made lunch in The Bothy and a party for 35 in the evening. They made their wedding even more special by inviting their family and close friends to stay at Madeira for the week and enjoy their holiday together.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Let the venue organiser do as much as they can on the day to support you. Friends and family are a great help but the venue can do so much and take away any stress.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

It was a weird one and the chef hatted it but one couple presented each person with their favorite dish at the wedding lunch....such a mishmash but very charming

Describe Madeira in Fife in 5 adjectives

Rustic, romantic, serene, versatile, fun

Where’s the best photo spot at Madeira in Fife?

So many photo opportunities. Must be either under the huge copper beach, on the tree swing or on a Tree House deck

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Madeira in Fife?

WE get a lot of pro golfers, The Hairy Bikers spent a week here cooking in our kitchen (see Fife edition), we had Jimmy Johnstone's nephew here 3 weeks ago but not sure that counts :)

What’s your favourite canapé?

Definitely Asian, probably with prawns, spice and lettuce. Loads of great seafood around here of course

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Crepes I had them at my wedding with a cheese board and they went down brilliantly. Also artisan pies on a napkin with sauce...yum

What is Madeira in Fife most unique feature?

Our ethos...we don't do packages and try to make every wedding unique. Of course they are because every couple is unique but we don't do 'cookie cutter'

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Kate and Chris who are brilliant at loads of things help make an event at Madeira fizz. They are responsible for the gardens but more than that Chris is an artist and Kate was in fashion so they love the aesthetic. Madeira is the backdrop but what happens with flowers (Kate does wild flower arrangements and the arch), tables, chairs, picnic baskets, clothes, style etc etc makes the event unique. I am proud of my tiny but massively willing and talented team.
